Articles on: Readability Scoring

What is ReadablePro’s gender score and how is it measured?

Gender analysis identifies whether your text looks like it was written by a man or a woman.

ReadablePro uses a sliding scale between 0-100. Lower scores suggest female authorship, higher scores male authorship.

It has been brought to our attention that the scale we use could imply a higher (more male) score is in some way better. That's not intentional, and we're looking at better ways to present this information.

The difference in the ways each gender writes comes down to the use of pronouns and type of pronouns, but there are also differences depending on whether the text being analysed is a formal or informal piece of writing.

Gender analysis currently has an accuracy of about 70%.
